Trip to Pondicherry !

I went to pondicheery 2 weeks back and from then i was thinking to write about it. All the contribution for delay goes to huge size of pics and my efforts of reducing them to the size which can be fitted to my blog.
My trip was totally unplanned. A friend's birthday party at 12 in the night lead to this idea and i was literally picked out of my bed at 1.We left bangalore by 1.30(after a bit of packing and lot of "are you sure"') and reached Pondicherry at 7 in the morning . Road was awsome(Nh-7)though once we took a wrong route and has to come a long way back.
The first 2 pics were the first one clicked on the way after entering Tamilnadu. And what can it be apart from amma's when you find her smiling all through your ways. The morning sun though was nice;)

Took a break and saw this old fort early morning.Had breakfast at Le cafe on beach road. It's a bit expensive though , so if you are hungary and want to hog on then can go to A2B.

Beach road gives you a nice view to the great arabian sea. just stroll there for a while and enjoy.

Pick up a map from pondicheery tourism if possible and rent up a two-wheeler(which you get at a very reasonable rate) else you would be easily robbed by autowallahs.

BTW , Pondicheery is known as Puducherry now(which i realised only after reaching there). It's a former french colony, hence, there is a lot of French architecture to be seen around the city right from churches to houses to restaurnats to hotels to houses.

You can find a tinge of France in food you eat to the wine you drink(anywez we went on a dry day so can't tell you about this) to the names of places around

Try sea food there. You will get every thing right from fish to crab to prawns to lobster to shrimps to sharks to anything which you havn't even heard before(as for me, i don't like sea food ugghhh). Had lunch a Rendezvous(and telling you Bamgalore Rendezvous is much much better then that)and didn't find it great.

Visited Shri aurbindo Ashram,Museaum,Auroville and Auroville beach.Auroville beach is very clean as compared to the ones which you are used of seeing in metros;), but i think the best is the paradise beach, which unluckly we didn't visit :( .

Auroville Ashram boast of a huge campus with a huge golden dome. You can easily spot lotta foreigners on your way to the ashram. Also , do shop for some junk jewellery, silver and hippie cotton stuff.

Through with all sightseeing , had dinner at a restaurant at beach road , strolled on the road aside the arabian sea for a while. Beleive me the sea looks even more beautiful at the night and so does the full moon.Drove back to bangalore the same night(which means two sleepless nights)and reached by morning. Thank god it was sunday . I slept like a log the entire day :).

Sorry missed Aliance Francaise pic here . Will put it soon;)
