Weverb 12 - Dec1 -Dec 10

9 Months it is. I even had thoughts of removing my blog and something just stopped me every time. I think it was just written, the rebirth of this blog and see nine months it is ;). The credit goes to Wishes galore, whose one link gave me the reason to start it again. I just wish that this trend continues. Amen!

Dec 1: compose [CREATE]: Write a haiku for 2012
Frankly, I didn’t know what a haiku is! So i just googled for it and here is my Haiku for 2012:
Realization
Sluggishness
Struggle

Dec 2. watch [LIVE]: What movie did you see this year that you would recommend to a friend?
I watched Barfi just because a friend wanted to watch it but ended up liking it .I cried really hard throughout the movie and was crying till the time I reached home. I don’t know what made me cry so much. Songs were fantastic and overall a nice watch (keeping the crying thing apart)

Dec 3. Stay [LISTEN]: How did you stay in the moment this year?
Staying in the moment was one of my biggest realizations of this year. After almost going insane with the happenings of life, I decided to take it as it comes. I gave myself a good break from time to time by almost exhausting 27 leaves without going on a vacation or visiting home. I cooked a lot and stuffed my fridge with it, as there was no one to eat that. I shopped like a crazy, so much so that my cupboard overflew. I hogged like a pig and went on long walks alone. But one more thing that has helped me tremendously was “Grey’s Anatomy”. As soon as my mind will start wandering I would start watching it and it really helped.

Dec 4: experiment [GROW] what did you do in 2012 that you had never done before? Will you do it again?
This year I finally start driving a car. I learnt it last year but never drove here in Bangalore. But this year finally I started driving and all thanks goes to my drunken friends. One fine day when I was sober and rests all were high my friend gave me the keys to drive them back home. It was almost 12 in the night and roads were almost empty. So I took the chance and drove. After a few hits and miss I feel I can drive , need little more practice so planning to join a driving class soon .

5. fellowship [HOPE]: What community has engaged you most this year and what did it you get out of your participation?
My family has kept me busy this entire year. I learnt that being the eldest one comes with lot of responsibility and sacrifices.

6. Cook [LIVE]: What was your best recipe/dish of the year? Share it!
I think my best recipe this year was Pasta in white sauce. This recipe was shared by my manager who is an excellent cook:
Pasta ( I use Penne): 250 gms
Butter: 1 Tbs
White flour: 1 tbs
Milk: 2 cups
Cheese: 4 Amul cubes
Herbs: Parsley, basil, Oregano, thyme
Black pepper (coarse)
Salt
Boil the pasta in hot water till it become soft. While boiling, add a drop of oil and some salt to it so it doesn’t stick. In a pan add butter and white flour. Keep whisking to avoid any lumps. Add the milk to it and keep stirring it continuously .When the milk starts to boil add the grated cheese, herbs and black pepper. Keep stirring it for a while till it thickens a bit and then add salt as per taste.
The trick here is to keep the proportion of butter: Maida: Milk as 1:1:2. SO if you want a little bit more sauce you can put it as 2: 2: 4. Cheese is as per your taste. As for the herbs, I usually use mixed herbs and don’t buy it separately.
You can add smoked chicken or mushroom to it. I usually add mushroom which are pre boiled and then sautéed in olive oil to it. I serve it with sautéed vegetables and mashed potatoes.

7. enliven [GROW]: Was there a book or article that inspired you to make a change in your life this year? What was the source and what did you change?
This year was very stressful and hence I reread this book “How to stop worrying &start living”. I am having this book from last year and read it once. But whenever I feel a bit down I just pick it up and randomly start reading. I can say that I have developed a little control on stressful situation by that.

8. Respond [LISTEN]: Do you actively listen to your inner voice/conscience? Describe a time this year you heard and responded to it.
Yes, I do and I responded to it by making a decision about my life this February.

9. Triumph [CREATE]: How were you challenged by a project or goal this year? What did you learn from it?
This entire year was a challenge and I learned the best way to come out of a situation is by talking and listening

10. Lose [HOPE]: Did you have to say goodbye to a person, or even a cherished object, this year? Take a moment to celebrate the memory
I was about to. Thankfully I didn’t J
